Punjab Fisheries Department is responsible for the conservation, management and development of natural fisheries resources through enforcement of Punjab fisheries ordinance and rules, promotion of private sector aquaculture practices to bridge the gap of protein deficiency in the diet of the common man, supply white meat to improve people’s health, use the untapped resources of fishing to obtain maximum production, increase our share of the national economy.

History
Punjab Fisheries Department is an attached division of the Forestry, Nature and Fisheries Department, established in 1912. The Department is responsible for the conservation, management and development of aquatic resources in the public and private sectors. The department is governed by the Punjab Fisheries Ordinance 1961.
