Company Description

PPHI Sindh is a not-for-profit company under section 42 of The Companies Act 2017 (formerly The Companies Ordinance, 1984). NPO (Not for Profit Organization) status has also been recognized by the Pakistan Center of Philanthropist (PCP), a government-certified body for recognizing non-profit organizations.

It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of seven experienced members with extensive and versatile experience. It is also represented by Secretaries of the Government of Sindh (Health, Finance, Planning and Development and Population Welfare) as ex-officio members of the Council. PPHI Sindh is also registered with the Economic Affairs Division, Government of Pakistan as a local NGO entitled to receive foreign contributions.

PPHI’s journey started in 2007 from Kashmore District and gradually expanded to 22 districts of Sindh. This responsibility was first transferred to the organization through Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in 2007 under an MoU with the Government of Sindh (GoS). In 2013, the organization was registered with SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan).

The aim of establishing the organization was to revitalize health services in rural Sindh. The immediate goal was to ensure that health facilities, handed over to PPHI, are fully functional and provide health services to all individuals within their reach. A dedicated and competent management team was deployed and set to work with full force to achieve this goal. Within a short period of time, the health facilities received regular doctors and staff and continuous medical supplies were provided.

Thanks to the efforts of PPHI Sindh, health indicators, especially infant and maternal mortality, have been continuously improved. PPHI Sindh has focused on maternal and child health and has continuously improved delivery coverage across Sindh. It has set up maternity hospitals 24 hours a day.

Today, 1,174 health facilities in 22 districts are administered by PPHI, the primary health care providers in rural Sindh. Many have delivery rooms and ultrasound machines. Female doctors and PPHI-trained midwives are available even in remote areas. Medicines and lab tests are provided free of charge to all patients.
