The Election Commission of Pakistan is an independent and self-governed federal body under the Constitution of Pakistan that is responsible for the fair conduct of elections. Elections are held for the national and provincial assemblies, all local governments, and the office of the president.
The committee is responsible for everything related to elections, from inception to the announcement of the results. ECP was founded in 1956 to lay the foundation for a just and fair system. Since then, it has been developed into a structure to provide fair elections according to the rules of the law. It consists of a panel of 5 members with a Chief Election Commissioner as the leader of the house.
